FAQs
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. What stays in the room stays in the room. I'll explain the usual professional boundaries before we begin so you feel completely clear and comfortable.
What if I get emotional?
That is entirely okay. You don't need to apologise for your feelings here, or worry about keeping up a brave face.
Do I have to talk about my past?
Only if it feels helpful to you, or if you want to. Our work is centred on the present — understanding what's going on for you right now and finding practical ways to move forward.
How many sessions will I need?
There's no set rule, but we will talk about it openly as we go. We focus on practical change rather than open-ended sessions. The aim is to help you build up your own skills and confidence, so you can get back to living your life without needing therapy.
What if therapy turns out not to be right for me?
Then we talk about it openly. Sometimes you don't know if something is working until you try it for a bit. There is no benefit to you in staying in sessions that aren't serving you. If we realise along the way that this isn't the right fit, we can discuss what might work better for you.
Is online therapy as good as in-person?
Yes, particularly for practical, focused therapy. Working online allows us to do the same work. Most clients find that once the screen is on, it quickly feels just like a regular face-to-face conversation.
